Wessex Water’s website, and work for its partner brands
Our work with Wessex Water included its main website, wessexwater.co.uk: website design, build and UX. We produced the design ideations and iterations that helped Wessex understand how to better communicate with their customers. The new site went live in April 2015.
There are two more pieces here too: a billing website for Bristol Water, a partner brand, and Wessex Searches, a search brand shared by three water companies.
The photography
We art directed Wessex Water’s photography, giving the photographer a set of rules: overexposed, with a granular finish. These are its own people at work.

A smart meter app
We also designed a working prototype of MyWater, a web app that let Wessex Water customers log in and see their water use in real time.
Bristol Water’s billing website
After successfully completing numerous websites for Wessex Water, Bristol Water, a partner brand, asked us to create a vibrant new website for their customer billing portal.

Wessex Searches
- Wessex, Bristol and Bournemouth water asked us to create a vibrant brand that drew together 3 major providers who offer a bespoke online search tool.
- Wessex Searches is provided by Wessex Water, Bristol Water and Sembcorp Bournemouth Water.
- Wessex Searches provide the official CON29DW Drainage and Water Enquiry in the Wessex Water region, plus an extensive range of additional conveyancing searches including coal, environmental, flood, planning and Local Authority searches (official or personal) for both residential and commercial properties.

The brand
Wessex Searches had run under a tired brand, and we refreshed it with a contemporary one, from the swirl logo up. The new brand mixes illustration with clean photography: photographs of homes and buildings, and a cast of characters like the red-haired guide on the Wessex Searches homepage.
A remit that grew
Our original remit grew with additional requests for copywriting, illustrative work, art direction and viral campaigns to promote the service outside of the existing catchment area to now a national and ongoing campaign.
In numbers
- 3water companies drawn together in one search brand
Wessex Water gave us all sorts to create, for itself and for its brands and partnerships. Some of it was small, like concepts for internal comms, and some was the flagship website the public sees. For Wessex Searches we made the whole brand, swirl logo and all. I’m proud they trusted us with work that important.
