PR planned with the rest of your campaign

If your offer is harder to explain than it should be, it is harder to get covered too. We find the story, plan the PR with the rest of the campaign, and make the press releases, press packs and events that take it to the press.

Our experience

In each piece of work on this page, the PR was part of a wider brief that took in the brand and the campaign.

PR and campaigns we have run for Conergy, Table Tennis England, Juju and water2business.

Juju's posts, press pages, adverts and campaign photographs laid out at an angle: the In the press since the 1990's page of cuttings, the kick back! advert, a sticker collage post, the For the girl who wants to look GOOD press pack page and girls in jellies at the seaside
A montage of the Conergy solar farm launch at Kencot Hill: the Conergy sign, the guests lined up behind the ribbon, the marquee, a speech at the lectern, the audience, a group photograph and the rows of panels
The PR plan we wrote for Juju laid out on a table: its Time Scales page of press activity from January to June, the target media list, a media gifting proposal and three early campaign routes
Numbered stills from the film and the animation we made for the GLAA laid out like a storyboard, with the HELP them leaflet and its handprint, its inside pages and the Act now pocket card among them
Juju’s press coverage: magazines open at their jelly shoe and welly pages, a Trend alert spread on top

The story first: Four steps, from the story to the coverage and what it leads to.

Find the story: We start with the business, the audience and what has changed.

Plan it with the campaign: The PR strategy is written alongside the campaign plan: who needs to hear the story, where they read about it.

Make the material: Press releases, press packs, editorial, film and animation.

Take it out, then build on it: We take the story to national, regional and trade press, often around an event, and report on what it achieved.

PR that belongs to the campaign

  1. 01

    Technical made clear

Solar energy for Conergy, a change in water regulation for water2business. We used film, animation and editorial to simplify subjects like these.

  2. 02

    Planned with the campaign

For Conergy, we developed the digital, PR and marketing strategies together. For Juju, the PR plans sat inside the campaign strategy.

  3. 03

    Events that start a discussion

For water2business we organised sustainability seminars with a regional business publication. The press releases and articles received extensive pick up in local and trade press.

  4. 04

    Toolkits your team can use

Where your own people will talk to the press, we can write them a toolkit: key messages, tone of voice, event ideas, press releases and how to deal with the media.

  5. 05

    Material made for each audience

Press packs for Juju. Editorial, films, animations and infographics for water2business, each one explaining the issue for a single sector.

  6. 06

    Senior people, directly

You work directly with the people shaping the strategy and creating the work, so nothing gets lost between the plan and the press release.

A new market, explained through the press.

When businesses could choose their water supplier for the first time, water2business needed to become the go-to authority on a confusing new landscape.

As part of the PR strategy, we organised sustainability seminars and workshops with leading businesses across the South West, working with the South West Business publication. The events gained positive feedback, the press releases and articles received extensive pick up in local and trade press, and the discussion points became a well-received white paper.

Questions we are asked

Can you guarantee coverage?

No. Nobody can promise what a journalist will write. What we can do is give the press a clear story and the right material, and tell you honestly what came of it.

Do you work with trade press as well as national?

Yes. water2business’s press releases and articles were picked up in local and trade press. Table Tennis England’s launch reached national and regional press, and Juju’s campaign included PR and events aimed at retailers as well as shoppers.

Can our own team handle some of the PR?

Yes. For Table Tennis England we wrote PR toolkits for their ambassadors and head office team, covering key messages, tone of voice, event ideas, press releases and media stories, and how to deal with the media.

How does PR fit with the rest of our marketing?

In the work on this page, PR was part of a wider brief that took in the brand and the campaign. Our process keeps the thinking and the doing connected, from the strategy to the material that goes into market.
