Northampton web design that starts with your customers

We’re Ideate Partners, a full-service, human-centred marketing and design agency in Bedford, a short drive from Northampton. When a site looks fine but people still can’t tell what you do, we find out why from the people you want to reach, then design and build around their answers.

From first conversation to a site that works

We keep the thinking and the doing connected, in four stages.

Sites we have designed include Bush & Co, Anderson Group, Safe Rugby for the NHS and RFU, Cambourne and Paris House.

Pages from the Cambourne website we built, laid out at an angle: contact, the team and the holistic financial planning page
Our photographs of Wessex Water’s people at work: an engineer in a hard hat, a field team, a man at a wall with a cable reel
Four phones close up, showing pages of the Bush & Co website we designed for each of its audiences: expert witness services, the immediate needs assessment for children and Find a case manager
Two pages of the Sava School of Surveying website we designed, close up: Law and Management of Invasive Non-Native Plants on a tablet and Meet Carys on a phone
An article on the Anglia Interiors website we designed, built and moved with every page at its old address, close up on a laptop: Transforming Their Dreams into Reality, a kitchen makeover in Northamptonshire

Brought in: We are often brought in when a website looks credible but doesn’t explain the value.

Find out: We interview your customers and staff, see how people use the current site, and check what it ranks for in Google.

Shape: We plan the structure and the words, giving each audience its own clear route through the site.

Prototype and build: We sketch and prototype the main pages so you can try them first, then build the site around what works.

Move and measure: We carry across what already works in search, then track what visitors do after launch.

When a new look isn’t enough

Usually one of these is behind it.

  1. 01

You’ve moved on, the site hasn’t

You’ve grown or changed direction, and the site still describes the organisation you were a few years ago.

  2. 02

    The message is too complicated

The offer is strong, but the pages say too much, or say it differently from page to page.

  3. 03

Too much rests on one person

Enquiries only make sense once someone has explained the business on the phone.

  4. 04

    You’re hard to find

People in Northampton search for what you do, but the site isn’t built to show up for what they type.

Common questions

How do we get started?

With a free Intro with Ideate, a 60 minute conversation about where you are and what you’re trying to achieve. If there’s a good fit, we’ll talk about what the work looks like.

What will a new website cost?

Two sites that look alike can cost very different amounts, so we’d rather hear your brief than guess. Thinking and content move the price far more than page count. The guide below explains how.

Will we lose our Google rankings when the site changes?

It’s a real risk, so we plan for it. Each page that brings you visitors keeps its address or passes people on in a single step, and on launch day we check every old address.

What happens after launch?

Some clients come for one project, others stay on for ongoing support. If we look after your site, we check it every week for errors Google has found, broken links, rankings that have moved and speed on a phone.

Do you only build websites for businesses?

No. Charities and the public sector too. We designed the website for the Peoples’ Climate Vote, the United Nations Development Programme’s poll on climate change, and built an online learning tool for the NHS and RFU.

“Ideate’s enthusiasm for this project never faulted in spite of several setbacks and inspired us all. Their technical expertise combined with their creativity evolved this project into so much more than we thought it could be. I would thoroughly recommend them.”
