Recruitment website design that starts with the candidate
We help recruitment businesses win candidates and clients online: a website and job search built around the people using it, a clear brand, and marketing that brings the right applicants back when demand peaks.
How we approach recruitment marketing
Recruitment marketing has two audiences at once: the candidates you place and the clients you place them with.
Our recruitment work includes Staffline and Pure Resourcing Solutions.

Candidates and clients: We help recruitment businesses win candidates and clients online.
Workshops: Sessions with your team, your clients and your candidates, to find where the journey works and where it breaks.
Positioning and plan: A clear position for the brand, a search strategy and a specification for the site and its integrations.
Design and build: A mobile-first website with a job search people can use, prototyped and tested before it is built.
Launch and grow: Content, film, photography and campaigns that keep the right candidates coming.
A job search candidates finish
A recruitment website has one job above the rest: helping a candidate find the right role and apply before they give up.
As the largest provider of blue collar recruitment in the UK, Staffline was finding it hard to source candidates to meet the peaks and troughs of demand. A six week audit of the brand, its data and its competitors came first, then workshops with clients and candidates. What they found gave a strong steer on what to build: a job search that put the candidate first, not the client, and an API that let the group post adverts out to multiple websites.

Ideate Partners are unique in that they combine technical and creative expertise with a can-do spirit and an understanding of the recruitment marketplace. Their consultative approach unveiled to us a multitude of improvements we could make to our digital strategy.
A brand clients can tell apart
Recruitment marketing speaks to two sets of people: the candidates you place and the clients you place them with. A job search people finish serves the first. The second needs a reason to pick you over the agency that sounds just like you.
Pure Resourcing Solutions, an East Anglian recruitment consultancy, had a strong brand and a great local reputation for each of its offices, but no real digital presence. One of its strengths was a focus on people and transparent relationships, so we evolved the brand and photographed Pure’s own staff to use throughout its online and offline material.

Try your own job search
Pick one of your live jobs, pick up your phone, and try it the way a candidate would.
- Search for the job title and town. Does your own advert come up, in the results or in Google’s own job listings?
- Ask someone outside the business to find the job on your site while you watch, without helping.
- Find the same job without typing its title, by sector or place alone.
- Apply with no CV saved on the phone, counting the taps and each thing you are asked for. Does anything tell you what happens next?

If any of those was harder than it should be, that’s where we’d start. Every extra question is another chance to stop.
Ways we can help
- 01
Positioning and strategy
When an offer is difficult to explain, the cause usually sits upstream of the marketing, so we start by defining where you compete and testing it against how your buyers really decide.
- 02
Branding and identity
A brand has to carry the weight of the business behind it, often in conversations you are not part of, so we build identities that signal the right level of expertise wherever a buyer forms a view of you.
- 03
Digital solutions
For many buyers the website is where a shortlist is decided, so we plan every page around the questions they arrive with and the doubts that slow them down.
- 04
Marketing and visibility
More activity rarely moves the numbers that matter, so we set the commercial priorities first and build the content and search programme that keeps you visible across a long sales cycle.
Questions about recruitment website design
Ask us something elseWhat should a recruitment website include?
For candidates, an advert that can be found and a short application. Then a reason to come back: Pure Resourcing Solutions’ site had a personalised candidate portal, blogs, a training area and insights to encourage regular visits. For clients, it’s the brand and the people behind it.
How long does a recruitment website take, and what does it cost?
Both depend on the same few things: how much the job search has to do, how it links to your recruitment software, how many sites it serves and who makes the content. For Staffline we also made the content for launch: film, photography and copywriting.
Will a new website work with our recruitment software?
It can, if the link is planned in from the start. Pure Resourcing Solutions’ website was integrated in real time with its back office software, so consultants received relevant live CVs directly, and an automated response system cut the admin.
Do we need a bespoke website, or will a template do?
It depends on how standard your jobs, process and systems are. If the job search, the application or the link to your recruitment software has to work in a particular way, that points to bespoke. Where needs are simpler, a template or a narrower fix to the site you have may do.
Can a recruitment agency compete with the big job boards in search?
Not on every search, and it doesn’t need to. Staffline’s SEO strategy targeted competitors with a similar proposition and a similar digital presence. Picking the searches you can win matters more than chasing them all.
Do you recruit marketing staff?
No. Ideate Partners is a marketing and design agency. For recruitment businesses we work on the brand, the website, the job search and the marketing. To fill a marketing role, a specialist marketing recruiter will serve you better.
